Currently, all barber licensing in Colorado falls under the Colorado Office of Barber and Cosmetologist Licensing.

Colorado Barber License Requirements

50 credit hours or 1800 clock hours training at barber school
Apprenticeship is not currently permitted for a barber license

Colorado Barber License Renewal

Colorado barber licenses expire on March 31 of even-numbered years, and cost $26 to renew, or $41 to reinstate if the license is past expiration. Currently, no continuing education hours are required to renew your barber license in Colorado, but CEUs are always recommended stay current.

Colorado Barber License Reciprocity or Transfer

Colorado does licensure by endorsement. Applicants must provide: an application for licensure by endorsement, a valid barber license from their home state with similar or equivalent licensing requirements, and pay the required licensing fees. Military spouses may work in Colorado for up to 1 year with a license from another state if they have applied for a Colorado barber license.
