Education Preview

Students, as we call Future Professionals, are offered the opportunity to learn an innovated curriculum from Licensed Instructors following Paul Mitchell standards and educational guidelines. Our Learning Leaders audition yearly for new certifications through the Paul Mitchell Curriculum to allow them to present our Future Professionals the most up to date trends and products. Each program level uses a combination of theory, hands-on skill training, and interactive lessons on pre-loaded iPad®.

  • Level 1 - CORE focuses on the fundamental knowledge and skills future professionals will need to begin working with their guests, including an overview of the barbering and cosmetology industry and business practices; State of Oklahoma rules and regulations, sanitation, and chemistry; basic techniques in cutting, color, and styling.
  • Level 2 - The ADAPTIVE phase is a period of intense study that is designed to build on the basics learned in CORE. Future professionals gain additional experience through hands-on practice. Future professionals also learn retailing practices, dialog, and the importance of educating clients on product, and the need for good communication.
  • Level 3 - CREATIVE is a period in which time is spent improving skills independently (under the supervision of a Learning Leader). In addition to that, you will also begin preparing a portfolio, preparing for the state board test, and increasing work speed. This is the final frontier before you’re fully charged for a career in cosmetology.

Looking to excel further – Earn extra certificates by completing optional Honors programs. Or better yet, earn your name on the Dean’s List. These are great to boost your future resume!

We Offer Programs in the Following Areas:

Barbering - Future professionals in the barbering program work through three tiers: CORE, ADAPTIVE, and CREATIVE. In this time students perform cuts, shaves, general grooming, coloring, maintenance, and more as they progress toward state-licensing and careers in men's grooming and barber shops

Cosmetology - Work through three tiers: CORE, ADAPTIVE, and CREATIVE, as you master skills such as braiding, up-styling and finish, perming and smoothing, natural hair styling, coloring and lightening, precision cutting, manicure, pedicures, facials, makeup, and much more as they work toward becoming a state-licensed cosmetologist.

Master Instructor Training – Designed for already licensed professionals who are ready to prepare for a rewarding career in educating others. Our ‘Learning Leader in Training Program’ is offered as an as needed basis. Email our Education Leader your resume, references and cover letter at lindac@pmoklahomacity.com.

Support for Graduation and Beyond

At Paul Mitchell we work diligently to find your salon, spa or barbershop home before you graduate. In doing so we host two of more career fairs a year. Other opportunities include seeing guest artists and industry mentors in campus. After reaching a certain hour mark our Future Professional also have the option to visit locations on site to explore more in person.

Visiting the Campus

Seeing the campus in person is the best action to find out more during your discovery phase. Scheduling a tour is non-comital to enrollment. It is designed to help those investing this career of choice. A tour is structured to take one hour. During the hour you have the opportunity to see our current Future Professionals in action, meet our Learning Leaders, explore the entire campus including classrooms, lounges and speak to a Financial Aid Adviser. By submitting your information, one of our Admissions Leaders will contact you to answer questions and set up a tour time.

Imagine, Paul Mitchell is accredited by NACCAS. Program offerings vary by campus. Financial aid is available for those that qualify.
