Currently all barber licensing in Mississippi falls under the Mississippi Board of Barber Examiners in Jackson.

Mississippi Barber License Requirements

To become a barber in Mississippi, a person must be at least 16 years old, have a high school diploma or GED. In this state, 1500 hours of barbering program at an approved school are required. A $15.00 fee for each barber is required to get a license. 

Mississippi Barber License Renewal

To transfer a license to Mississippi, a candidate must send an application of intent to apply for a license, have a record of their training and license status from their home state sent to the Mississippi Board of Barber Examiners, and appear before the board for an interview. Transfer is determined on a case-by-case basis.
