Currently, all barber licensing in Florida falls under the Florida Division of Professions, Barbers Board.

Florida Barber License Requirements

1200 Hours training at a barber school
Apprenticeship is not currently permitted for a barber license.

Florida Barber License Renewal

The Florida barber license needs to be renewed every two years. It costs $105 for barbers and restricted barbers to renew, $155 for barbershops to renew, and $25 for barber assistants to renew. If you have been working unlicensed you need to pay an additional $5 unlicensed activity fee. You need to complete a board-approved course in HIV and AIDS during each two year licensure period.

Florida Barber License Reciprocity or Transfer

The Florida cosmetology board does not have a reciprocity program. Instead, they offer Florida licensure through endorsement. To transfer your license to Florida, your home state must have similar education and testing requirements.
